Asus ZenFone 4 leaks before unveiling

The other day, Asus accidentally posted information about four upcoming ZenFone 4 models including the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Pro and the ZenFone 4 Max. Today, the Asus ZenFone 4 appeared on benchmark site GFXBench which revealed some of the handset’s specs. Let’s start with the 5.5-inch display, which has a 1080 x 1920 resolution. Powering the apple replacement parts is an octa-core CPU running at a clock speed of 2.2GHz. The Adreno 508 GPU is on board, which suggests that it is the Snapdragon 630 SoC under the hood.

While only a single 12MP camera appeared on GFXBench, there is talk of a dual-camera setup (12MP + 8MP) for the etrade supply . An 8MP front-facing camera will take care of selfies and video chats, and Android 7.1.1 is pre-installed.

While not part of the GFXBench listing, there is speculation that the ZenFone 4 will be equipped with a 3300mAh battery. In addition, a 1TB capacity microSD slot allows users to expand the amount of storage if necessary.

Asus will be unveiling its new ZenFone 4 models this coming Thursday, August 17th. The ZenFone 4 could be priced at 499 EUR for the version with 4GB of RAM. That is equivalent to $590 USD based on current exchange rates.

The ASUS ZenFone 4 Max was recently announced with a 5,000mAh battery. ASUS touts that it’s built in PowerMaster tech to help the battery last longer and also charge fast, which is good to hear since that’s a big battery to have to recharge. ASUS says that you can also use the ZenFone 4 Max’s beefy battery to recharge other devices using the included OTG cable.

Around back there’s a dual rear camera setup, one with a 13-megapixel sensor, f/2.0 aperture, EIS, and phase detection autofocus, while the other camera has a 120-degree wide angle lens. Around front is an 8-megapixel camera with an LED flash and some software beautification features.

Other features of the ASUS ZenFone 4 Max include a 5.5-inch display, a Snapdragon 425 or 430 processor depending on the variant, up to 3GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage, a microSD slot, dual SIM slots, FM radio, and microUSB. ASUS has preloaded the ZenFone 4 Max with Android 7.0 and a custom ZenUI user interface.

The ZenFone 4 Max will launch in Russia at a price of 13,900 rubles ($230 USD). It’s unclear when it might launch in other markets.
